چکیده

Radiation processing was found effective in wastewater purification and disinfection, and has been investigated in many countries through laboratory scale and pilot scale facilities. This technology can be applied to the treatment of industrial wastewater from textile dyeing industries, papermill and petrochemical processes, and also for the reclamation of effluent from municipal wastewater treatment plant. The facility throughput can be increased and unit cost of wastewater decreased by improvement of electron beam utilization. Higher process efficiency and lower unit cost can be obtained by implementation of lower dose level. The minimum dose depends on characteristics, specific properties and contamination of certain wastewater. Electron energies more than 1.0 MeV are useful for industrial scale plant, such energy provides enough penetration of accelerated electrons into wastewater at admissible hydrodynamic regimes of wastewater flow.

IAEA-CN-115-50 Electron Beam Treatment Plant for Textile Dyeing Wastewater

Abstract. A pilot plant for treating 1,000m of textile dyeing wastewater per day with electron beam has constructed and operated continuously in Daegu, Korea since 1998. This plant is combined with biological treatment system and it shows the reduction of chemical reagent consumption, and also the reduction in retention time with the increase in removal efficiencies of CODCr and BOD5 up to 30~4...

IAEA-CN-115-38 Disinfection of Total Coli-forms in the Effluent from Municipal Wastewater Plant with Electron Beam

Electron beam has introduced to investigate the effect of radiation on the disinfection of coli-forms in the effluent from the municipal wastewater treatment plant. Unchlorinated secondary effluent was irradiated at different dose of 0.2 – 1.0 kGy with 1 MeV, 40kW electron accelerator. It is observed that nearly 100% reduction in E-Coli. and total coli-forms were achieved with a dose of 0.8kGy....

Treatment of Synthetic Textile Wastewater by Combination of Coagulation/Flocculation Process and Electron Beam Irradiation

Introduction: Textile wastewaters from dyeing and finishing processes are heavily polluted with dyes, textile auxiliaries and chemicals and have a broad range of pH, high COD concentration and suspended particles. In this study, the efficiency of color and turbidity removal from synthetic textile wastewater samples were investigated by combined process of coagulation/ flocculation and electron ...

A Comparison of dosimetric parameters between IAEA TRS-398, AAPM TG-51 protocols and Monte-Carlo simulation

Background: Two protocols of AAPM TG-51 and IAEA TRS-398 were compared followed by a measurement and Monte Carlo simulation of beam quality correction factor, KQ, AAPM TG-51 and IAEA TRS-398 protocols were compared for the absorbed dose to water for DW, and KQ parameters. Materials and Methods: Dose measurements by either protocols were performed with cylindrical and plane parallel ch...

Investigation of Physical Properties of e-Beam Evaporated CdTe Thin Films for Photovoltaic Application

CdTe thin films with 2.8 µm thickness were deposited by electron beam evaporation method. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were used to characterize the films. The results of AFM analysis revealed that the CdTe films have uniform surface. CdTe thin films were heat-treated by SnCl2 solution. Structural analysis using XRD s...
